Web Site Design for Writers portfolio

Web site Design/Maintenance

CreateWriteNow.com

Mari L. McCarthy's business had outgrown her original Web site (shown right, above). She needed something more professional and vibrant to showcase her writing consulting business, greeting card design and music. Web Sites for Writers gave her site a face lift (above, left) with new colors and new fonts to give it a more professional, business-like feel. The site's menu was expanded to highlight her greeting cards and new music CD and a way to purchase via PayPay was added to improve customer usability.

FranQuinnWorkshops.com

Fran Quinn workshops

Fran Quinn teaches poetry workshops across the country and offers private tutoring. He needed a Web site to promote his workshops, allow for registration and connect with students wanting to learn more. Most of the content was adapted from his workshop brochures. The tone of the site needed to reflect Fran's expertise and look inviting to poets. I chose a deep brown color scheme, simple layout and clean page design to achieve this.

donasjohn.com

The DonasJohn.com Web site design draws on the simplicity and beauty of Donas John's book The Doves of Winter. Deep and sharply contrasting colors were used to help focus visitor attention on the selling point of the site: excerpts from the book. The information/purchase box is presented on every page of the site to allow for easy purchase.

David Hoppe: Writer

david hoppe web site

David Hoppe is an award winning columnist and editor who writes about culture and politics for NUVO, the alternative weekly in Indianapolis, IN. A writer of poetry, fiction and children's stories as well as nonfiction, David needed a way to showcase his wide writing experience with excerpts of his longer works and links to his weekly columns. A web site organized by genre provides a clean, easy to use presentation of his many talents.

julihenshaw.com

Juli Henshaw needs a Website that sells her services to potential clients. By presenting the content as a step by step guide (using footprints as a metaphor) through the process, Juli explains her writing coaching and mentoring process and services clearly. The splash page of the site was designed to mirror Juli's advertising campaign and draw visitors into the heart of the site.

inquiringlife.com, freestoneretreatcenter

Laura Duggan needed two different Websites that would work together - one for meditations, poetry and self-study courses and one for the Freestone Retreat Center. Each site contains a reciprical link, but are also joined by a sense of tranquility and order created by soft colors, calming imagery and clean, simple navigation.
